Nanuet Schools Going Paperless

It's the internet age and everyone's going paperless from bank statements to homework assignments. The Nanuet Union Free School District is doing the same to cut costs and save a few trees.

At their last meeting, they announced that they're going paperless by posting all agendas and minutes online. To add to their tech savvy trend, they're switching over to a new website that's more cohesive and the look is much cleaner. Although this new website is still in progress, it's already showing great potential.

"Moving to BoardDocs has been a priority goal for the Nanuet Board of Education.  BoardDocs is environmentally friendly and saves time and money,while providing the benefit of searching data and sharing information with our community," said Superintendent Mark McNeill.

BoardDocs is where the Nanuet Board of Education posts all their agendas and minutes, both previous and upcoming. On the district's website, NanuetSD.org, parents can sign up for K-12 alerts and there's a community bullitin board for district-wide updates.

The schools are also following suit. There's a monthly letter from the principals on the homepage of each of the schools' sites. On the elementary site, there is a feature under the 'Parents' tab called "Backpack" where parents can access the papers and flyers their students are sent home with, just in case the kids lose or forget them.

Forms are also online, such as the yearbook order form on the Barr MS site. The new site has a place for everything, from clubs and PTA to the lunch menu and athletics.

The calendar on the main district site has the events from the district and all the schools. On each school website, the calendar only shows events pertaining to that particular school.

It's still in progress, but Superintendent Mark McNeill and all the principals encourage parents and students to go check it out and familiarize themselves with the new layout as it continues to grow.
