New York Lottery Winner Uses Winnings to Open Red Mango Café in Nanuet

After the shock wore off, New York Lottery winner Belinda Poblete considered various ways to invest her money. The Rockland County resident decided to open a Red Mango Yogurt Café Smoothie and Juice Bar in Nanuet.

An avid lottery player, Poblete won a $7 million jackpot from the New York Lottery in May. Her win story is fun — Cash4Life was not the game she usually played; she just picked random numbers on a whim; she left the ticket with her father and went to work; her mom had to call her to come home.

She chose to receive her prize as a one-time lump sum payment totaling $4,632,600 after required withholdings. At the time, she said, “This is all so unbelievable. I can’t believe this happening to me. My plans are to pay off the mortgage, plan for the future and take a vacation at some point.”

Poblete’s cafe, slated to open Summer 2017, will showcase an expanded concept which Red Mango has been rolling out nationwide, that serves raw, fresh-squeezed, ice-filtered juices and made-to-order cafe meals under 500 calories in addition to the frozen yogurt, fresh smoothies, and parfaits for which Red Mango is famous.
