On May 26 Poblete decided to change things up and purchase a CASH4LIFE ticket for that night’s drawing. She chose her numbers at random and matched all six numbers drawn, earning her the $7 million jackpot prize, lottery officials said.
“I don’t know why I played that game,” explained Poblete. “I just picked the numbers randomly. They aren’t birthdays or anniversaries – just random numbers.”
Poblete went to work the day after the drawing and left her ticket with her father to check the results.
“I was at work when I got a call from my mom. She said, ‘You have to come home. You got all the winning numbers.’”
Poblete left work and checked her numbers online. “I just went numb. I was so excited. It’s hard to explain, I just couldn’t believe what I was seeing.”
Poblete purchased her winning ticket at Super 7 Express on Orange Turnpike in Sloatsburg. She chose to receive her prize as a one-time lump sum payment totaling $4,632,600 after required withholdings.
“This is all so unbelievable. I can’t believe this happening to me,” explained the lucky multi-millionaire. “My plans are to pay off the mortgage, plan for the future and take a vacation at some point.”
The winning CASH4LIFE numbers from the May 26 drawing were 4-13-26-34-43 Cash Ball 3.
Officials said the New York Lottery contributed $30,611,838 in Lottery Aid To Education to school districts throughout Rockland County during fiscal year 2015-16.
