The train that derailed was arriving into Penn Station from Long Branch on the North Jersey Coast Line, according to NJ Transit officials. The nine-car train was in a Hudson River tunnel when it was involved in a "minor" slow-speed derailment around 9 p.m.
All other NJ Transit trains were halted in and out of Penn Station Thursday night after the derailment. All mid-town direct trains were diverted to Hoboken.
