Pedestrian Hit, Injured by Car in Nanuet

Clarkstown police seek the public's help in investigating the incident.

At about 5:10 PM March 4 the Clarkstown Police Department was called to South Middletown Road and Market Street in Nanuet for a report of a pedestrian struck by a car.

Responding officers found a man lying in the roadway needing medical attention. The driver of the vehicle, a 25-year-old man from Congers, stayed at the scene.

Nanuet Volunteer Ambulance and RPS Paramedics responded to the scene and transported the victim, a 51-year-old Bardonia resident, to Nyack Hospital for treatment of head wounds.

The driver was exiting the Stop and Shop parking lot, making a left turn when the accident occurred, police said. Due to the nature of the injuries the Clarkstown Police Accident Investigation Unit is continuing to probe into the cause.

At this point in the investigation there does not appear to be any indication that this was anything more than a tragic accident, police said. There has been no arrest made or summons issued but the investigation continues.
