School Attendance Matters: United Way of Rockland
Help spread the word through social media with these memes!

September 2014 will be known as Attendance Awareness Month. To encourage student attendance at school and how it is pertinent to their education, United Way of Rockland hopes to create an understanding and stress the importance of good school attendance.
The statistics speak for themselves (see www.attendanceworks.org). 83% of kids who miss 2 or more days a month of Kindergarten and 1st grade are unable to read at grade level in 3rd grade. Also, the average student learns about 3,000 words per year in the early school years, but only if they are actually there. These are just some of the reasons why United Way of Rockland believes that attendance does matter.
Follow United Way of Rockland on Facebook to copy and share some of the memes at www.facebook.com/UnitedWayofRC, and help promote #AttendanceMatters #SchoolEveryDay. United Way’s wants to make people more aware of this issue through social media, so that a change can be made to put a stop to chronic student absences.
