Sentenced For Raping, Beating Wife As Kids Watched

After prison, he'll have 20 years post-release supervision as a registered sex offender.

SPRING VALLEY, NY — Two children watched as their father raped, strangled and punched his wife at the couple’s home in Spring Valley. Now Holger Lema-Yaucan, now of Brooklyn, has been sentenced to 10 years in state prison and 20 years post-release supervision, Acting Rockland County District Attorney Kevin Gilleece announced Thursday.

He was convicted by a jury in May of:

  • One count of Rape in the First Degree, a class “B” Felony
  • One count of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, a class “D” Felony
  • One count of Strangulation in the Second Degree, a class “D” Felony
  • One count of Aggravated Criminal Contempt, a class “D” Felony
  • Two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, class “A” Misdemeanors

The violent rape took place in September 2017.

“This defendant viciously violated his wife, all while the couple’s two young children were in the same room,” Gilleece said in the announcement. “He will now go to prison where he belongs.”

The 31-year-old was arrested by members of the Spring Valley Police Department on Sept. 11, 2017. Upon his release, Lema-Yaucan must register as a sex offender under the provisions of Megan’s Law.

The case was prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorney Kathleen Devlin.
