Smash-and-Grabs at Nanuet Little League

At least five cars had windows smashed and property taken Sunday, Clarkstown police said.

The Clarkstown Police Department is investigating a series of car larcenies in the parking lot of the Nanuet Little League. It is believed similar incidents have occurred elsewhere in Rockland as well as in other neighboring jurisdictions.

Between 3 and 5:30 p.m. April 24, at least five cars had their windows smashed -- and property was taken from four of the cars, police said. In each case where property was taken, the victim had left a purse in the vehicle in plain view.

The Clarkstown Police Detective Bureau is following up on this matter.

"We urge all our residents to make sure they lock their vehicles, and secure any personal items well out of sight if they must be left inside the vehicle. Items such as purses or computers that will enable a their to gain access to personal information is a particularly troublesome problem," police said. "Should you become the victim of such a crime, you should immediately report this to your local police department, and then change any passwords on accounts that have to do with financial assets, as well as notifying those institutions of the theft, so they can assist you in protecting your assets."

If you have any information on these thefts, please contact the Clarkstown Police Detective Bureau at 845-639-5840, or the main police number 845-639-5800.
