Threat to 'Start Killing People' Made From Synagogue

Ramapo police accused a Monsey man of the terroristic threat.

RAMAPO, NY — A Monsey man is accused of calling 911 and threatening to "start killing people" from a synagogue in Airmont.

The call came in to Rockland County Radio Headquarters On 07/07/18 at about 12:21 p.m. July 7.

It was determined that the call had originated in the area of Fosse Court in Airmont. Ramapo police immediately responded and secured the area, which included a synagogue and residential homes.

Further investigation revealed that the telephone number belonged to a subscriber in Baltimore, Maryland.

With the assistance of Baltimore police, the Ramapo police learned that the subscriber was attending a function at the synagogue on Fosse Court. The phone’s owner was located and it was learned that he had left his phone unattended.

Police allege Zev Zitrenbaum, 25, picked up the phone and made the 9-1-1 call.

As a result of the investigation, Ramapo police arrested Zitrenbaum Thursday and charged him with Making a Terroristic Threat (a class D Felony).

Zitrenbaum was arraigned in the Village of Airmont Justice Court and sent to the Rockland County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.
