Tomorrow: Rockland Business Association to Hold Annual "Greening the Bottom Line"

This event will promote strategies to provide economic and environmental benefits for companies

The Rockland Business Association will be hosting its annual “Greening the Bottom Line” Seminar on Wednesday, June 8 from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  The event will be held at Rockland Community College’s Ellipse Room at the Technology Center, where various speakers will discuss their environmental strategies for local businesses.

“There are so many incentive programs.  The idea is to bring in the programs and learn about them in one place.  If it looks interesting, you can meet with the people who run these programs,” said RBA Vice President of Development Roger Scheiber.

The keynote speaker will be Thomas McGrath, the Senior Investment Officer with the New York State Comptroller’s Office.  He is in charge of the Green Strategic Investment Program (GSIP), which seeks out green friendly opportunities to invest in.  RBA President and CEO Al Samuels explained that the GSIP loans multi-millions of dollars to places that support efficient environmental goals, as well as generate strong investment returns.

Companies in attendance, such as United Water and Orange and Rockand Utilities, aim to show how business can cut back on their waste. Scheiber believes that people want to do what is environmentally correct in addition to being good for business. This year’s seminar will focus on incentive programs for businesses to gain financial and environmental benefits.

The price to attend the seminar is $20 for RBA members and $30 for non-members.  For more information go to http://www.rocklandbusiness.org or call the office at 845-735-2100.
