Uncle Louie G's Opening Day

They opened their doors at 5 p.m. Saturday

Previously the Nanuet Locksmith, a new business opened at 147 S. Middletown Road in Nanuet. Uncle Louie G's opened their doors yesterday at 5 p.m. after a successful day at the Nanuet Family Festival just a few hours earlier.

Their Italian Ice and Ice Cream line at the festival stayed consistently long and the first few hours of opening their business brought in many families and friends. The Fitzgerald family owns Uncle Louie G's with the Calvanos.

"It was a beautiful day. The weather could not have been better," said Co-owner Irene Fitzgerald, referring to the festival earlier that day. "The festival was a big success. There was a big turnout, especially with the St. Agatha reunion. It was nice because it was a group effort."

Between the two families, there are seven children who helped man their concession stand at the festival. Their credit card machine is up and running and their first $20 bill is taped to the wall along with good luck dollar bills from family and friends.

"Legislator Bob Jackson was our first customer," said Fitzgerald.

Their Grand Opening is still to come, but Uncle Louie G's is now up and running.

"It was good. There was a lot of people," said Fitzgerald's Daughter Jackie, referring to the first hour of business. "Everyone came in at once."
