ā¢ Before Earl's Hideaway, Earl owned 4 restaurants, Showboat in New York (miramarflnews.com) ā Decades before Floridaās Earlās Hideaway, Earl Roberts was running Showboat and two busy restaurants in New Lebanon just over the mountain from Pittsfield. This piece recounts how his New Lebanon ventures thrived in the 1930sā40s, then were sold after World War II as he shifted his energy to hotels and bars in coastal Florida.

ā¢ Who remembers Showboat in New York's Lebanon Valley on Albany Road? (heraldtribune.com) ā A once-famous nightclub called Showboat drew big-band crowds to Route 20 in New Lebanon from 1930 until an arson fire in 1975. The story traces how Pittsfield brothers Earl and Arthur Roberts built the shipāthemed dance hall, expanded it with restaurants across the road, and helped put New Lebanon on the map with early radio and television broadcasts.
