• 'We're Still in Shock': Dressel Farms Warns of Major Crop Loss (hudsonvalleycountry.com) — Dressel Farms in New Paltz is warning of what could be a catastrophic loss of its apple crop after an unprecedented hard freeze dropped temperatures near 21 degrees during bloom. The farm’s frost-prevention efforts failed at those lows, and they’re now working with Cornell scientists and other experts on contingency plans. Residents are urged to support New Paltz and Hudson Valley farms by buying local and visiting when possible.
   

• Afghan refugee from New Paltz released pending deportation order appeal (dailyfreeman.com) — A New Paltz resident and Bard College student from Afghanistan has been released from federal immigration detention while he appeals a deportation order. Local, county, state, and federal leaders, along with faith and college communities, rallied for his case, emphasizing due process and support as he reunites with family and resumes life in the Hudson Valley.
