Adam Hochfelder has completed multiple transactions for Merchants Hospitality resulting in the $110 million acquisition and assemblage of 1802-1810 Second Avenue, which is slated to be Manhattan’s first super-luxury Senior Living Facility, as well as the Brill Building at 1619 Broadway, a $185 Million Retail and Office Building in Times Square. Mr. Hochfelder was also responsible for the acquisition of a luxury residential apartment building on the Upper West Side, as well as Merchants Hospitality’s acquisition of the Global Hospitality & Restaurant Brand, Philippe Chow located in NYC and East Hampton.
Prior to joining Merchants Hospitality, Mr. Hochfelder was the Co-Founding Partner of Max Capital Management Corp., a real estate investment firm in NYC with $3 billion in assets under management. Under Mr. Hochfelder’s stewardship, acquisitions included 230 Park Avenue ($300 million), 237 Park Avenue ($455 million), 350 Madison Avenue ($180 Million), 1440 Broadway ($200 million), as well as multiple residential properties in New York and Chicago.
Mr. Hochfelder was also responsible for the development of multiple luxury hotel properties including the Hyatt Andaz at 485 Fifth Avenue in NYC, and the Westin Aruba Resort & Casino in the Caribbean, which was acquired from Pepsico South America.
Mr. Hochfelder’s transactions have been financed with Institutions such as Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank, Wells Fargo and Citigroup.
In 1998, Mr. Hochfelder was one of the youngest people ever selected to serve on the Real Estate Board of New York. In 2000, Mayor Michael Bloomberg appointed Mr. Hochfelder to serve on NYC’s Economic Development Committee. Mr. Hochfelder served alongside Deputy Mayor Dan Doctoroff on NYC2012, NYC’s bid committee to bring the 2012 Summer Olympics to NYC.
Mr. Hochfelder has been honored by multiple National Charities for his philanthropic endeavors. He founded and funded the development of the NYC Parenting Center which aids first time mothers in need. Mr. Hochfelder has developed low-income housing in New York and Philadelphia and has been an integral part of the development of various youth sports foundations. Recently, Hochfelder was the recipient of The People Who THRIVE Award for his outstanding community service.
