All NYC City-Run COVID Vaccine Sites Now Offer Walk-In Shots
Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Friday that all New Yorkers, regardless of age, can get shots at city-run sites without appointments.

NEW YORK CITY — Getting a coronavirus vaccine in New York City is easier than ever.
All city-run vaccination sites will offer walk-in shots to New Yorkers, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Friday.
De Blasio said these appointment-free shots are open to all, regardless of age.

"We want to do a lot more, we want to get everyone in who hasn't been vaccinated yet, we want to make it simple, we want to encourage people," he said. "And, let's face it, convenience matters to New Yorkers."
The city previously offered walk-in shots to New Yorkers aged 50 and up at 30 sites.

De Blasio said that pilot program showed the city's vaccination sites could accommodate appointment-free shots.
"We did not have the kind of lines we were worried about that might be a problem, so we're quite confident we can accommodate a much higher volume of walk-ins, so we're going to make that universal at all the city-run sites," he said.
The city is also eliminating geographic restrictions on its vaccination sites, de Blasio said.
The change takes effect Friday. It does not apply to state-run mass vaccination sites like Javits Center and Yankee Stadium, where walk-in doses are available only for New Yorkers 60 and up.
