NYPD Cop Injured At Watch Party Outside MSG, 3 People Arrested

The officer was trying to make an arrest when he was injured by a man outside Madison Square Garden.

NEW YORK CITY — An NYPD cop was injured after police say he was hit in the face trying to arrest a man who had climbed onto an ambulance during a Knicks watch party outside Madison Square Garden.

The incident happened near 33rd Street and Seventh Avenue around 11:15 p.m.

In addition to the man who hit the police officer, two others were arrested, and five were issued summonses.

A 26-year-old man was charged with assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration, and disorderly conduct.

Another 26-year-old was also arrested for resisting arrest, criminal mischief, obstructing governmental administration, and disorderly conduct.

A 22-year-old will also face the same charges.

Social media videos show the fans climbing onto the ambulance as officers try to get them down.

Thousands of Knicks fans converged at Penn Plaza to watch the Knicks defeat the San Antonio Spurs in Game 1 of the NBA Finals.
