NEW YORK, NY— Taylor Swift has reimbursed New York City more than $160,000 for the permit and police response tied to her Madison Square Garden wedding, Mayor Zohran Mamdani said this week.
"Taylor Swift will be paying... has paid already the cost of the permit that was lodged, which was over $160,000 for that event and for the response to that event," Mamdani said on Friday.
The payment was finalized just days before the Mayor's remarks.
In New York City, private events that require police services can reimburse the city through permit fees and reimbursable police service agreements.
While most NYPD overtime is paid through the city's budget, organizers of certain private events may be billed for police and other municipal services associated with those events.
The City has not released an itemized breakdown of what the more than $160,000 covered, including how much went toward permits, police staffing or other operational costs.
