NYC School's AI Policy: 5 Things To Know (patch.com) — New York City is rolling out strict new rules on how public school students can use AI, including a one-year ban on student-facing generative AI for grades 2-K through eight and tight limits on screen time. High schoolers in NYC will instead get AI literacy lessons and access to five closely monitored pilot tools, while a new Technology in Schools Coalition will help decide the city's long-term approach.
   

2. 2 SNL Stars Will Host Free Comedy Show Aboard Their Own Ferry Boat (patch.com) — New Yorkers are being offered free tickets to a one-night comedy show hosted by SNL stars Pete Davidson and Colin Jost aboard their own retired Staten Island Ferry, docked at Pier 17. The September 17 "Snapple Island Ferry" event will run from 7 to 10 p.m., feature additional comedians, and release a limited number of free tickets online each afternoon.
   

3. 'Taste Of Times Square' Festival Returns To NYC With More Than 30 Eateries (patch.com) — Food lovers in New York can look forward to the Taste of Times Square festival returning on Wednesday, Sept. 9, with more than 30 neighborhood restaurants offering small plates. Stretching along 46th Street, Restaurant Row, and nearby Broadway plazas, the event will feature diverse cuisines, live music, and Broadway-themed performances, with discounted advance wristband registration available online.
   

4. Scholarships honor college-bound students who lost relatives to 9/11-related illnesses (abc7ny.com) — In Lower Manhattan, six New York City–area students who lost close relatives to 9/11-related illnesses just received $25,000 scholarships to help pay for college. The awards, backed by the Barasch & McGarry Foundation, highlight ongoing health impacts from World Trade Center exposure and remind local families that free healthcare and compensation remain available through federal programs.
   

5. NY Lotto, Win 4, Take 5 winning numbers for Wednesday, Sept. 2 (lohud.com) — New York lottery players can now check all the winning numbers from the Sept. 2 drawings, including New York Lotto, Win 4, Take 5, Numbers, and Pick 10.
