To celebrate National Burger Day on Tuesday, May 28th, the new location of Fat Ronnie’s Burger Bar (303 6th Avenue at Carmine) will be giving away ‘Fat Ronnie’ burgers to the first 100 guests, starting at 5pm!
Fat Ronnie’s was founded by Reynaldo “Ronnie” Faust, whose grandmother, Maxine Faust, was notably the first black female union butcher in the country and a pillar of Harlem. In 2013, Ronnie carried the five-generation family business forward with the opening of a butcher-forward burger bar in Oak Bluffs, the historic Black enclave on Martha’s Vineyard recently portrayed in a 2025 Ralph Lauren’s Summer 2025 collection.
Using his grandmother’s signature recipes and thick, pub-style Angus beef burgers, Fat Ronnie’s became a local favorite, tourist destination, and celebrity haunt in The Vineyard, frequented by the likes of Spike Lee, Barack and Michelle Obama, and Kamala Harris.
