This program celebrates Shakespeare in the decades following the Restoration, when London's stages reopened under Charles II and his plays were reborn with music at their heart. Composers like Henry Purcell and his contemporaries transformed Shakespeare's dramas into richly theatrical entertainments that blended song, dance, and incidental music.

Directed by Rachel Podger and performed by Juilliard415 with singers from the Marcus Institute for Vocal Arts and actors from Juilliard Drama, this concert brings to life the vibrant spirit of Restoration theater.
