Recycling Bins
Has anyone noticed that the only vendor to sell NYC-certified curbside recycling bins is Home Depot? That's called a Sole Source contract and the only reason for its use as defined by an internet search is as follows:
"A sole source contract is a non-competitive agreement awarded directly to a single supplier without a standard bidding process. It's typically used only when that specific vendor is the only one capable of providing the required product or service, such as with proprietary technology or extreme emergencies."
Those bins are the 50 gallon blue and green wheeled models affixed with an official NYC Department of Sanitation seal. They've been sold out for weeks at Home Depot and failure by building owners to put them out curbside on designated neighborhood recycling days are immediately summoned and fined by the Department of Sanitation.
This is simply unconscionable.
Does anyone smell a rigged city contract?
