Country Bank Honors Immigrant Community at Columbus Day Parade

Sponsors Float in Honor of Italian-American Heritage, Celebrates Employees and Patrons That Contribute to Business Success

Roughly one million people lined 5th Ave to watch parade floats and entertainers celebrate the New York Italian-American experience on Columbus Day, October 8th. NY-based Country Bank, now celebrating its 30th anniversary, sponsored a festive float to honor the support of the Italian-American employees and patrons that have greatly contributed to its longstanding success. This is Country Bank’s 5th year in the parade.

“New York’s story is one of immigrants and so is Country Bank’s,” said Carolyn T. Murphy, Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer. “Our president and CEO, Joseph M. Murphy, is the son of Irish immigrants and many of our employees and patrons are first, second or third-generation Americans from all over the world. We credit their dedication and loyalty in helping us achieve all of that we have and want to honor their contributions to the communities we serve.”

A prominent Country Bank Italian-American is Louis A. Tallarini, an active and influential business man in New York real estate before his 2017 appointment to the Country Bank Board of Directors. Since 1979, Tallarini has served as a Board member, past President and Chairman of the Columbus Citizens Foundation, best known for organizing the annual Columbus Day Parade. Under his leadership, millions of dollars of college scholarship funds have been raised and awarded to students of Italian-American heritage.

Responsibility and loyalty to neighbors, friends and kin is an ethos common to both the Italian-American community and Country Bank. This is the message and intention behind the bank’s newly minted community-minded identity: “Here you are family.”

“We were happy to have our Italian-American Country Bank family members represent us and their pride in this year’s parade. In spite of the cool and cloudy weather, the crowds were enthusiastic and everyone had fun. We look forward to it again next year,” said Murphy.

Founded in 1988, Country Bank is a FDIC-insured, full service commercial bank offering products and services for commercial banking and lending customers, small business customers and individual consumers serving Metro NY with branches in NYC, Bronx and Westchester.
