Elderly Man Hit, Killed By Garbage Truck In The Bronx: Reports

THE BRONX, NY — An elderly man was hit and killed by a garbage truck while crossing the street Friday night, NYPD told media outlets.

The man was crossing the street at 152nd and Jackson Avenue in The Bronx Friday night when the private garbage truck hit him. Police told ABC 7 the man, who was in his 70s, was not in a crosswalk.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, police told CBS NY. The driver and two workers on the truck stayed at the scene and no charges had been filed Saturday, NY Daily News reported.

The victim's name was not immediately released.
