Watch Bill De Blasio Get His Funk On With George Clinton
The Prime Minister of Funk sang with Mayor Bill de Blasio's family to promote upcoming Homecoming Week concerts.

NEW YORK CITY — Do not attempt to adjust your computer screen — the P-Funk Mothership captain himself beamed down to bring a groove to City Hall.
George Clinton, the Prime Minister of Funk, sat alongside a beaming Mayor Bill de Blasio on Thursday. Dr. Funkenstein's cosmic visit was to promote the upcoming Queens "Homecoming Week" concert on Friday — a show Clinton is headlining and celebrates the city's reopening from the coronavirus.
"I'm glad to be here, to be a part of this," Clinton, who wore a shimmering coat, said. "In fact, we need to do something ourselves."

"Yes, you're ready?" de Blasio said.
"Can we get the first family up in here?" Clinton asked.

With that, the mayor's wife and son — Chirlane McCray and Dante de Blasio — walked onstage and sat down for an a cappella version of the Funkadelic classic "One Nation Under A Groove," with a slight, New York City-related lyric change.

Clinton's appearance is only the latest in a spate of high-profile mayoral meetings with famous musicians. This week, de Blasio — a self-professed music fan — appeared onstage with Wu-Tang members at Staten Island's "Homecoming Week" concert, among other appearances.
Hizzoner on Thursday also learned his Wu-Tang Clan name: King Blasi.
The Homecoming Week shows are free but only open to New Yorkers who have been vaccinated against the coronavirus. The final show takes place Saturday in Central Park.
