How about a literary mystery novel? Check out Frame 39.
Finally. I'm picky -as you may know. check out this new book - a debut novel written by an architect.

I am very lucky to have friends who publish books. Here is another book I fell in love with - and if you like a literary novel that still qualifies as a mystery, you will love this one.
Frame 39 is by London architect and author Rick Shands, who grew up on the Jersey Shore no less.
But Shands moved to countries all over the world during his career, including Sweden, Dubai, Malta, and more, before moving to London.

The book is set among ruins all over the world, and the two main characters are living in different timelines. The female protagonist is a creative, adventurous writer (just my type) and happens upon 39 old-time photos a mysterious person took years prior. She gets hooked, and does something extremely cool: she follows the photos to figure out what they are, where they are, and "why" this stranger took them.
One of the major themes running throughout the novel is how culture and religion rule our lives and have done so since the beginning of mankind. I really like the way different religions are connected to one another by a country or a ruin, and how that impacts the story.

Now I have a few new places I want to visit - especially Malta.

It's in all stores though I was told to order it online since it's not always in stock. Indie books have it too...enjoy!
A special thanks to the rebel in my life, for sharing this with me.
