JFK, LaGuardia To Offer Coronavirus Tests To Incoming Travelers
The airport testing sites are meant to guard against out-of-state travelers bringing COVID-19 to New York, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Monday.
NEW YORK CITY — Out-of-state travelers flying into JFK and LaGuardia airports soon won’t have to go far to find a coronavirus testing site.
“We’re actually setting up testing sites at our airports,” Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Monday.
Cuomo said the testing sites will help protect the progress the state has made slowing the spread of COVID-19.

The state’s infection rate fell to 0.66 percent recently — the lowest since the coronavirus crisis stated, Cuomo said.
But rates in other states have grown and prompted Cuomo and New York City officials to institute a number of health measures, including a list of states from which travelers must quarantine themselves for two weeks.

Travelers arriving at airports already had to fill out health forms.
Cuomo said the site will be run by the Port Authority and city Health + Hospitals. They will help perform tests faster, he said.
