Kaitlin Listro, Recent Graduate, on Importance of Supply Chain

Why Supply Chain is Important for an Organization

What is Supply Chain Management?

Supply Chain Management is the act of using better systems and management skills to better help a company succeed. When a company is able to improve the quality of its employees, online systems, and mechanics, it has a better chance of competing against up and coming businesses similar to itself. It is an important part of both small and large businesses because it helps them achieve an advantage in their respective industries.

How It Works
Supply Chain Management is carried out by an agent that a manager or business owner either contacts or is recruited by. The agent then comes to assess the effectiveness of the company’s equipment, programmed systems, and even the hiring process. In commerce, the agent is able to track the flow of goods and services to ensure that they get there not only safely, but efficiently. Furthermore, the industry focuses on ensuring that the consumers are pleased with the services provided by the client they are improving.

Both large and small companies can benefit from this because faster and more efficient processes will bring in more consumers. This, in turn, leads to long term profit as consumers become more and more pleased with the services provided by the company. Small companies benefit because they are able to improve how they hire and which candidates they choose to hire. This leads to a more ethical and trustworthy workplace and can eventually add up to having a larger company down the line, which is reassuring for the manager and employees.

Why is Supply Chain Management Important?
When it comes to ensuring the success and sustainability of a business, supply chain management is a business owner’s best friend. The benefits, to name a few, include improving production speeds, building a better and more trustworthy relationship with employees, and having a fair advantage in the work industry. By working on ways to improve their company, the manager is letting their employees know that the business is in good hands and is bound to succeed. The equipment, systems, and the people a manager hires are much more likely to improve when a company relies on Supply Chain Management rather than if the company were to work on these components solely.
