LIRR Train Evacuated After Hitting Debris In East River Tunnel: FDNY

The train had been traveling from Jamaica to Penn Station before it got stuck in the tunnel.

NEW YORK CITY — A Long Island Rail Road train had to be evacuated after it hit debris and got stuck in an Amtrak East River tunnel on Wednesday morning, the FDNY said.

The incident happened around 6:20 p.m. after a disabled NJ Transit train in the tunnel was removed.

The LIRR train was behind it and got stuck after hit debris on the tracks. All passengers were safely evacuated, the FDNY said.

There were no injuries reported.
