Military Helicopters Will Fly Over NYC Saturday

If you see helicopters flying over the city Saturday, here's why.

NEW YORK, NY — The NYPD is alerting residents to a training exercise involving military helicopters that will be conducted on Saturday.

A flight of 10 military helicopters will fly over the Verrazano Bridge, the Hudson River, the Harlem River, the East River and the Statue of Liberty at an altitude of 500-1000 feet. The training will occur between 1-3 p.m. on Saturday.

The training will take place once again on Tuesday between 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.

The NYPD is making an effort to tell New Yorkers of such activities in advance ever since a military plane circling Midtown Manhattan in December caused panic.
