Museum of Jewish Heritage Hosts Annual Generation to Generation Event
Museum will Honor the Legacy of the Jews Saved by Oskar Schindler, Featuring Liam Neeson, Julianna Margulies, Rachie Shnay, Miri Ben-Ari

The Museum of Jewish Heritage – A Living Memorial to the Holocaust will honor the legacy of the Jews saved by Oskar Schindler in conjunction with the 30th anniversary of the release of the film Schindler’s List at the annual Generation to Generation celebration on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, emceed by Julianna Margulies and featuring a special appearance by Liam Neeson and performance by Miri Ben-Ari.
For decades, the annual L’dor V’dor, or Generation to Generation, dinner has brought together friends, family, and generations of survivors to help support the Museum’s timely mission to serve as a beacon for education about antisemitism and bigotry through lessons of the Holocaust.
The event will be presented at the Museum at Edmond J. Safra Plaza, 36 Battery Place in Battery Park City. The evening begins with a cocktail reception at 6 PM, with a dinner and program at 7 PM.

The event will welcome 30 or more descendants of Schindler survivors and their relatives, including Schindler survivor Saul Dreier who will be performing the Hamotzi. Through the generous support of individual donors and the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany, the Museum is hosting two tables for descendants, in addition to the descendants who are planning on supporting the event through ticket or table purchases.
Throughout the night, attendees will hear from Museum President and CEO Jack Kliger, Museum Board Chair Bruce Ratner, and jewelry founder (and third generation Holocaust survivor) Rachie Shnay.
The event is emceed by Emmy, Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild award winner Julianna Margulies. Margulies can currently be seen starring in the third season of the Emmy Award winning Apple TV+ flagship series “The Morning Show” opposite Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon. In 2021, Margulies added author to her list of credits with the release of her autobiography Sunshine Girl: An Unexpected Life. The book tells the story of her unconventional childhood and how it shaped some of the crucial decisions she made as an adult. Most notably known as an original member of the groundbreaking series ER and star/producer of CBS’ The Good Wife; Margulies’ television credits also include Billions, The Hot Zone, Dietland, The Sopranos, The Grid, and The Mists of Avalon. No stranger to film, Margulies has also appeared in several silver screen gems including City Island, The Darwin Awards, Snakes on a Plane, Slingshot, Ghost Ship, The Upside, Three Christs, Evelyn, Paradise Road, What's Cooking, The Newton Boys, A Price Above Rubies, Traveller, and The Man From Elysian Fields.
International award-winning Actor Liam Neeson will accept the award on behalf of the production of Schindler’s List. Neeson is best known for his work in films including Schindler’s List, Michael Collins, the blockbuster Taken trilogy, Star Wars: Episode 1-The Phantom Menace, and Love Actually. The actor is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and the proud father of two sons. Recently, he was seen in Memory and the highly anticipated Obi-Wan Kenobi (Disney +) series, returning as the beloved Qui-Gon Jinn. In 2022, he starred in Marlowe, directed by Neil Jordan and based off the novel by crime fiction master, Raymond Chandler. Marlowe was Neeson’s 100th film to date.
A Grammy-winning violinist, producer, keynote speaker, "Goodwill Ambassador of Music" to the United Nations and entrepreneur, Miri Ben-Ari is originally from Israel and has created a unique sound that combines classical, hip-hop, and dance music, and became the first and only violinist to win a Grammy in the Hip Hop category. This classically trained violinist, who once studied under the late classical master Isaac Stern, Ben-Ari has helped sell millions of records by collaborating with other Grammy award-winning artists such as Jay Z, Kanye West, Alicia Keys, Wyclef Jean, Wynton Marsalis, Britney Spears, Maroon 5, Akon, Donna Summer, Janet Jackson, John Legend, Aventura, Armin Van Buuren, and Diamond Platnumz. Miri Ben-Ari is not only an exceptional performer but also a trailblazer for future generations. Among her awards are: "Apollo Legend," “Grammy Award,” "International Jewish Woman to Watch," "Martin Luther King Award", The White House’ "Remarkable Woman," and the "Ellis Island Medal of Honor."

The Museum of Jewish Heritage – A Living Memorial to the Holocaust is New York’s contribution to the global responsibility to Never Forget. Opened in 1997, the Museum is committed to the crucial mission of educating diverse visitors about Jewish life before, during, and after the Holocaust.
The Museum’s current offerings include Courage to Act: Rescue in Denmark, a new exhibition about the extraordinary rescue of Denmark’s Jewish population in 1943, a story of mutual aid and communal upstanding in difficult times for visitors aged 9 and up; The Holocaust: What Hate Can Do, a major exhibition offering a timely and expansive presentation of Holocaust history, on view in the main galleries; and, Survivors: Faces of Life After the Holocaust, featuring photographer Martin Schoeller’s portraits of 75 Holocaust survivors in his signature style.
The Museum of Jewish Heritage maintains the Peter & Mary Kalikow Jewish Genealogy Resource Center, a collection of almost 40,000 artifacts, photographs, documentary films, and survivor testimonies, and contains classrooms, a 375-seat theater (Edmond J. Safra Hall), special exhibition galleries, , and a memorial art installation, Garden of Stones, designed by internationally acclaimed sculptor Andy Goldsworthy. The Museum also hosts the National Yiddish Theater Folksbiene, the Producers of the acclaimed Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish, and LOX at Café Bergson an OU-certified café serving eastern European specialties.
