NYC Alternate Side Parking Suspended Next Week
The suspension runs July 5 through 12 and could last longer than a week, depending on street cleanliness, officials said.

New York City will suspend alternate side parking July 5 through 12 — shortly after the city changed the rule for the first time in decades.
Mayor Bill de Blasio chuckled that New York parkers have a lot of "passion" about the rule as he announced the upcoming suspension.

"This week has been a cleanup week," he said. "We've overall seen the city has stayed pretty clean."
The new rule, as a reminder, requires New Yorkers to only move their car once a week while it's in effect.

Streets with multiple alternate side parking days will be cleaned on the last day of the week on each side, based on what's posted on the current sign, officials said. The change doesn't affect daily sweeping rules in metered areas, they said.
De Blasio and officials said the alternate side parking suspension could go longer than July 12, depending on how clean the streets remain.
