NYC Special Elections 2026: See Results Of Three Races

Voters picked who will represent the 36th Assembly District in Queens, and the 74th Assembly District and 47th Senate District in Manhattan.

NEW YORK CITY — New Yorkers elected three new state leaders on Tuesday that will represent parts of Manhattan and Queens.

Voters decided who will represent the 36th Assembly District in Queens, and the 74th Assembly District and 47th Senate District in Manhattan. All three candidates won in a landslide and will finish out their respective remaining term.

Democrat Diana Moreno is the projected winner in the 36th Assembly District race. The seat was vacated by Mayor Zohran Mamdani after he won the mayoral general election in November. The district includes parts of Astoria, Ditmars, Astoria Heights and Long Island City.

Moreno was endorsed by Mamdani and defeated challengers Rana Abdulhamid and Mary Jobaida.

The 74th Assembly District race is projected to be won by former City Council Member Keith Powers. The seat was vacated by Harvey Epstein, who was elected to the City Council in November. The district covers the Lower East Side, Gramercy Park, Murray Hill and Union Square.

Powers defeated Republican candidate Joseph Foley.

The 47th Senate District race was won by City Council member Erik Bottcher, who defeated Republican candidate Charlotte Friedman. The district encompasses Greenwich Village, Chelsea, Hell’s Kitchen, the Upper West Side and part of Central Park. The seat was vacated after Brad Hoylman-Sigal was elected Manhattan Borough President.
