NYC Subway Delays, Service Changes For Wednesday's Commute

Breaking: Several lines were delayed Wednesday morning.

NEW YORK CITY, NY -- Several subway lines were delayed during a wet Wednesday morning rush hour commute that was plagued with sick passengers and mechanical difficulties.

A sick passenger at the 59th Street, Columbus Circle station caused delays on the A line around 8 a.m. and Brooklyn-bound trains were rerouted to the the local track between 59th and Canal streets, the MTA announced on Twitter. Signal problems at Canal Street also delayed A, C and E service around 9:45 a.m.

Northbound B and D train service came to a halt around 7 a.m. after signal problems struck at the Rockefeller subway station. While service resumed at 7:40 a.m., the MTA warned passengers to expect residual delays.

Signal problems also plagued the D train at the Bay Parkway station around 8:20 a.m. and caused northbound trains to be delayed.

Southbound F trains were rerouted to the E line between Roosevelt Avenue and West 4th Street from 8:45 a.m. to 9 a.m. because of a sick passenger at the 21st Street - Queensbridge station.

The N, Q, R and W line was hit with two separate incidents that delayed service and rerouted trains. A sick passenger at the Union Square station caused N and Q trains to run local between Canal and 34th streets between 8:45 a.m. and 9 a.m. And a train with mechanical difficulties at Canal Street rerouted uptown-bound R trains to the N line from 8:55 a.m. to 9:20 a.m., according to an MTA alert.

Lastly, a 5 train with mechanical problems at the Pelham Parkway station stalled southbound service 5 at around 9:20 a.m. and once again, caused delays, said the MTA.

Angry straphangers took to Twitter to complain.
