NEW YORK CITY — A new workweek started with a dose of frustration for some New York City straphangers.

At least seven MTA subway lines Monday experienced delays or slower speeds because of reroutes, officials said.

The 2/3, A and C lines were listed under "delays" on MTA's service status site.

A train's brake activation near 79th Street prompted crews to put southbound 2/3 trains on the local track from 96th Street to 72nd Street, the MTA posted at 8:18 a.m.

A signal problem near Lafayette Avenue caused delays for northbound A trains, the MTA posted at 7:58 a.m.

Crew shortages prompted delays on the C train, according to the MTA.

"We're running as much service as we can with the train crews we have available," the MTA posted at 8:10 a.m.

The SR train that shuttles straphangers to the Rockaways is also running with "some delays" because of a crew shortage, according to an MTA post at 8:06 a.m.

And E and M trains are running at a slower speed near 50th Street because of a signal problem, the MTA posted at 8:02 a.m. Both lines were rerouted, officials said.

"Some northbound E trains will run along the M line from W 4 St-Wash Sq to 5 Av/53 St," the MTA posted.

"Some northbound M trains will run along the F line from 47-50 Sts-Rockefeller Ctr to 36 St (Qns)."
