NYC Weather: Extreme Heat To Hit Before Afternoon Of Storms

A heat advisory is in place across the city Monday, with storms coming later in the day. It could feel as hot as 100 degrees.

NEW YORK, NY — Temperatures will get dangerously hot before an afternoon of thunderstorms starts to cool things off for the rest of the week, forecasters warned Monday.

The National Weather Service put a heat advisory in place for all five boroughs starting early Monday morning until 8 p.m. The forecasters said the heat index, which accounts for humidity, could make it feel between 95 and 100 degrees even as temperatures stay in the 80s for the most of the day.

The rain is set to start around 3 p.m. and will last until the sun goes down.
