NEW YORK CITY — Rain and thunderstorms are expected to roll through the New York City this weekend, most likely affecting any outdoor plans, forecasters said.

Friday looks to be sunny throughout the day, with a high near 88 degrees in the city, but things will change once we hit Saturday.

Current forecasts show there is a 50 percent chance of rain during the day Saturday. Rain showers and possible thunderstorms are expected to hit during the evening hours.

The rain and thunderstorms could pick up again after 2 p.m., according to forecasters. Chance of rain is at 60 percent.

New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch are predicted for the city, though except higher amounts during thunderstorms.

At night, scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible.

Monday will continue the trend of rain in the area. Rain could dampen most of the morning hours, but thunderstorms are poised to hit during the afternoon.

Temperatures will reach a high of 79, with a chance of precipitation at 70 percent.

At night, showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 8pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m., according to forecasts.

Tuesday will be the first day next week that the skies will clear up, with only a 30 percent chance of showers after 2 p.m. Temperatures will reach a high of 74 degrees.
