NYC Weather: Near 80 Degree Temperatures On Way

Rain and clouds from the weekend will hang around Monday, but Tuesday promises a sunny day with temperatures up to the mid-70s.

NEW YORK, NEW YORK — A gloomy Easter weekend will linger into Monday, but the sun will finally return on Tuesday with temperatures into the mid-70s, forecasters said.

Rain that threatened to ruin holiday plans throughout the weekend will stick around Monday afternoon. The chance of rain will start to pick up around 11 a.m., with showers and thunderstorms likely after 2 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

The day will be mostly cloudy with highs around 66. The chance of thunderstorms will continue into Monday night, but clear up before morning for a sunny Tuesday.

Tuesday's temperatures could reach as high as the mid-70s, according to the Weather Channel. The National Weather Service predicts a high of 69.

Tonight: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 2am, then a slight chance of showers between 2am and 3am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 56. North wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 69. Northwest wind around 6 mph becoming light and variable.

Tuesday night: A slight chance of showers before 11pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 11pm and 3am, then a chance of showers after 3am. Increasing clouds, with a low around 56. South wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Wednesday: A 20 percent chance of showers before 11am. Partly sunny, with a high near 67. West wind 8 to 13 mph.

Wednesday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 50.
