NYC Weekend Subway Service Changes for Dec. 10-11

NEW YORK, NY — Puking Santas won't be the only hazards to those using public transportation this weekend. Here's how the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) plans to screw up your commute this weekend — from late Friday night, Dec. 9, through early Monday morning, Dec. 12 — in the name of "upgrading and maintaining our tracks, stations and signal systems in order to continue to provide our customers with safe and reliable service."

3 train:

• At all times until further notice, 3 trains skip Sutter Av-Rutland Rd and Junius St in both directions. Use free shuttle buses instead.
  
  • For Service to/from Sutter Av-Rutland Rd, free shuttle buses operate between the Sutter Av-Rutland Rd station and the Crown Hts-Utica Av station at all times.
  • For Service to/from Junius St, free shuttle buses operate between the Junius St station and the Rockaway Av station at all times.
• At all times until further notice, 3 trains skip Pennsylvania Av in both directions. Free shuttle buses provide alternate service between Pennsylvania Ave and Van Siclen Av at all times. B20 and B83 customers can transfer to/from free shuttle buses at Pennsylvania Av. Free transfer is available with MetroCard.

4 train:

• At all times until further notice, 3 trains skip Sutter Av-Rutland Rd and Junius St in both directions. Use free shuttle buses instead.
  • For Service to/from Sutter Av-Rutland Rd, free shuttle buses operate between the Sutter Av-Rutland Rd station and the Crown Hts-Utica Av station at all times.
  • For Service to/from Junius St, free shuttle buses operate between the Junius St station and the Rockaway Av station at all times.
• At all times until further notice, 3 trains skip Pennsylvania Av in both directions. Free shuttle buses provide alternate service between Pennsylvania Ave and Van Siclen Av at all times. B20 and B83 customers can transfer to/from free shuttle buses at Pennsylvania Av. Free transfer is available with MetroCard.
• At all times until May 2017, no elevator service at the Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall Station.

5 train:

• No trains between E 180 St and Dyre Av. Free shuttle buses provide alternate service on weekends, 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.
• At all times until May 2017, no elevator service at the Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall Station.

E train:

• Weekend E service operates in two sections:
  • Between World Trade Center and Union Tpke, and via F train line to/from 179 St.
  • Between Union Tpke and Jamaica Center.
• At all times until Dec. 2016, no elevator service at the Jamaica-Van Wyck Station.
• At all times until January 2107, no street level elevator service at 51 St/Lexington Av-53 St Station.

D train:

• From 11:45 p.m. Friday, December 9 to 5:00 a.m. Monday, December 12, Norwood-205 St bound D trains skip 170 St, 174-175 Sts, and 182-183 Sts.
• From 5:45 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, December 10 and Sunday, December 11, Norwood-205 St bound D trains run express from Bay Pkwy to 62 St-New Utrecht Av.

F train:

• At all times until early 2017 Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound F trains skip Avenue I, Bay Pkwy, Avenue N, Avenue P, Avenue U, and Avenue X. To these stations, take the Coney Island-bound F to Kings Hwy or Neptune Av and transfer to a Jamaica-bound F. From these stations, take a Jamaica-bound F to Kings Hwy or 18 Av and transfer to a Coney Island-bound F.
• From 11:45 p.m. Friday, December 9 to 5:00 a.m. Monday, December 12, Jamaica-179 St bound F trains are rerouted via the E line after 47-50 Sts to Roosevelt Av.
• From 11:45 p.m. Friday, December 9 to 5:00 a.m. Monday, December 12, F trains are suspended in both directions between Coney Island-Stillwell Av and Church Av. Free shuttle buses make all station stops between Church Av and Coney Island-Stillwell Av. Transfer between trains and free shuttle buses at Church Av. Consider using D, N, Q trains between Coney Island-Stillwell Av and Downtown Brooklyn or Manhattan.

M train:

• From 6:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Saturday, December 10, and from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Sunday, December 11, M trains run every 20 minutes. Delancey St-Essex St bound M trains run express from Myrtle Av to Marcy Av.

N train:

• At all times until Spring 2017, Astoria-Ditmars Blvd bound N trains skip 86 St, Avenue U, Kings Hwy, 20 Av, 18 Av, New Utrecht Av, and Fort Hamilton Pkwy. N trains will stop at Bay Pkwy and 8 Av.
  
  • To 86 St, Avenue U, and Kings Hwy, take the Astoria-bound N to Bay Pkwy and transfer to a Coney Island-bound N.
  • To 20 Av, 18 Av, New Utrecht Av, and Fort Hamilton Pkwy, take the Astoria-bound N to 8 Av and transfer to a Coney Island-bound N.
  • From these stations, take a Coney Island-bound N to Bay Pkwy or Stillwell Av and transfer to an Astoria-bound N.
  • For New Utrecht Av-62 St, take the D Transfer to an Astoria-bound N train at 36 St.
• From 11:45 p.m. Friday, December 9 to 6:30 a.m. Sunday, December 11, and from 11:45 p.m. Sunday, December 11, to 5:00 a.m. Monday, December 12, N trains are rerouted via the Q line in both directions between Canal St and DeKalb Av.

R train:

• From 11:45 p.m. Friday, December 9 to 6:30 a.m. Sunday, December 11, and from 11:45 p.m. Sunday, December 11, to 5:00 a.m. Monday, December 12, R trains are suspended in both directions between Whitehall St and Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr.
• From 11:45 p.m. Friday, December 9 to 6:30 a.m. Sunday, December 11, and from 11:45 p.m. Sunday, December 11, to 5:00 a.m. Monday, December 12, R trains run express in both directions between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and 36 St. Bay Ridge-bound R trains skip 45 St and 53 St.
• From 6:30 a.m. to 12 Midnight, Saturday, December 10 and Sunday, December 11, R trains are rerouted via the Q line in both directions between Canal St and DeKalb Av in both directions.

J train:

• From 3:45 a.m. Saturday, December 10 to 10:00 p.m. Sunday, December 11, Broad St-bound trains run express from Myrtle Av to Marcy Av.
