NYC Weekend Subway Service Changes For Dec. 9-10

NEW YORK, NY — Here's how the Metropolitan Transportation Authority will screw up your plans this weekend — from late Friday night, Dec. 8, through early Monday morning, Dec. 11 — in the name of "upgrading and maintaining our tracks, stations and signal systems in order to continue to provide our customers with safe and reliable service.

Getting around on the subway this weekend is going to be tough, as a whopping 17(!) train lines will be running with modified service.

1 train:

• From 9:45 p.m. Friday, December 8 to 5:00 a.m. Monday, December 11, uptown 1 trains skip 50 St, 59 St, 66 St, 79 St and 86 St due to track replacement as part of Subway Action Plan work. Use a downtown 1 or 2 local train to complete your trip.

2/3 trains:

• From 1:45 p.m. Friday, December 1 to 5:00 a.m. Monday, December 4, 2/3 service will be suspended in Brooklyn due to Fix&Fortify Sandy Recovery Work in the Clark St Tunnel. This project is part of MTA's ongoing efforts to fix assets damaged during Sandy, and include repairs and rehabilitation of tracks, signals, pump rooms, fire protection system, and power and communication cables.
  • In Brooklyn, 4 service will operate local to Crown Hts-Utica Av to replace the 3. Free shuttle buses will run from Crown Hts-Utica Av to New Lots Av. 5 service will be extended to Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College to replace the 2. 4 and 5 trains will run local in Brooklyn. Service will not be available at the Clark St and Hoyt St stations. As an alternative, use the nearby Borough Hall and Nevins St 4/5. Transfer at Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr for N/Q/R trains for service to Manhattan.
  • In Manhattan, downtown 2/3 trains will be rerouted. 2 trains will run between the Bronx and South Ferry, making local stops between 34 St-Penn Station and South Ferry. 3 service will run between Harlem-148 St and 14 St. Service will not be available at the Park Place and Wall St stations. Use the nearby Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall and Wall St 4/5 stations instead.
  • A free out-of-system transfer is available between the South Ferry 1/2 and Bowling Green 4/5 Transfer between South Ferry 1/2 and R at South Ferry-Whitehall St. Transfer at Times Sq-42 St for N/Q/R trains to Brooklyn.
• From 10:00 p.m. to 12 midnight, Friday, December 8, 2/3 trains run local in both directions between 34 St-Penn Station and 14 St due to electrical improvements as part of Subway Action Plan work.

3 train:

• From 12:01 a.m. Saturday, December 9 to 5:00 a.m. Monday, December 11, 3 trains run local in both directions between 34 St-Penn Station and 14 St due to electrical improvements as part of Subway Action Plan work.

4 train:

• From 10:00 p.m. to 11:45 p.m. Friday, December 8, Woodlawn-bound 4 trains run local from Crown Hts-Utica Av to Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr due to track maintenance.

4/5 trains:

• From 11:45 p.m. Friday, December 8 to 5:00 a.m. Monday, December 11, service is extended to New Lots Av and service is extended to Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College due to Fix&Fortify Sandy Recovery Work in the Clark St Tunnel. trains will run local in Brooklyn to replace the . A free out-of-system transfer is available between the South Ferry and Bowling Green stations.

7 train:

• From 11:45 p.m. Friday, December 8 to 6:00 a.m. Saturday, December 9, and from 11:45 p.m. Saturday, December 9 to 7:00 a.m. Sunday, December 10, 7 trains are suspended in both directions between Queenboro Plaza and Times Sq-42 St due to track maintenance. E/F/N/S and free shuttle buses provide alternate service.

A train:

• From 11:15 p.m. Friday, December 8 to 5:00 a.m. Monday, December 11, A trains are suspended in both directions between Broad Channel and Far Rockaway due to track replacement as part of Subway Action Plan work. A service will operate between 168 St and Broad Channel, and via the S to/from Rockaway Park. Shuttle buses will make all stops between Beach 90 St and Far Rockaway. Transfer between trains and buses at Beach 90 St.
• From 9:45 p.m. Friday, December 8 to 5:00 a.m. Monday, December 11, downtown A trains run express from 59 St-Columbus Circle to Canal St due to track maintenance as part of Subway Action Plan work. Use an uptown A local or E to complete your trip.
• From 9:45 p.m. Friday, December 8 to 5:00 a.m. Monday, December 11, A trains are suspended in both directions between Inwood-207 St and 168 St due to communications improvements. 1 trains make nearby stops between 168 St and 207 St. Free shuttle buses will run along two routes:
  • On Broadway, between 168 St and 207 St.
  • On Fort Washington Av, between 168 St and 190 St.
• From 12:01 a.m. Saturday, December 9 to 5:00 a.m. Monday, December 11, A trains will stop at 155 St and 163 St in both directions due to communications improvements.
• From 9:45 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Friday to Monday, December 8 to 11, Manhattan-bound A trains run express from Broadway Junction to Hoyt Schermerhorn St due to track maintenance as part of Subway Action Plan work.

B/D trains:

• From 9:45 p.m. Friday, December 8 to 5:00 a.m. Monday, December 11, Uptown B/D trains are rerouted via the C line from W 4 St-Wash Sq to 145 St due to track maintenance. For service between W 4 St-Wash Sq and 47-50 Sts, use the F via transfer at W 4 St-Wash Sq. For 7 Av, take the E instead via transfer at 42 St/Port Authority.

C train:

• From 6:30 a.m. to 12 midnight Saturday, December 9 and Sunday, December 10, C trains will be suspended in both directions between 145 St and 168 St due to communications improvements. Take the A train instead.
• From 6:30 a.m. to 12 midnight Saturday, December 9 and Sunday, December 10, uptown C trains run express from Canal St to 145 St due to track maintenance. Use a Norwood-205 St bound D train to complete your trip.
• From 9:45 p.m. to 11:45 p.m. Friday, December 8, and from 6:30 a.m. to 12 midnight on both Saturday, December 9, and Sunday, December 10, downtown C trains run express from 59 St Columbus Circle to Canal St due to track maintenance as part of Subway Action Plan work.
• From 9:45 p.m. to 11:45 p.m. Friday, December 8, and from 6:30 a.m. to 12 midnight on both Saturday, December 9, and Sunday, December 10,Manhattan-bound C trains run express from Broadway Junction to Hoyt Schermerhorn St due to track maintenance as part of Subway Action Plan work.

D train:

• From 11:45 p.m. Friday, December 8 to 5:00 a.m. Monday, December 11, Norwood-205 St bound D trains skip 182-183 Sts due to track maintenance. Use a Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound D train to complete your trip.

E train:

• From 9:45 p.m. Friday, December 8 to 5:00 a.m. Monday, December 11, World Trade Center-bound E trains skip 23 St and Spring St due to track maintenance as part of Subway Action Plan work

F train:

• At all times until early 2018, Manhattan-bound F trains skip Avenue U, Avenue P, Avenue N, Bay Pkwy and Avenue I.
  • For service to these stations, take a Manhattan-boundF train to Kings Hwy or 18 Av and transfer to a Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound F.
  • For service from these stations, take a Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound F train to Kings Hwy or Avenue X and transfer to a Manhattan-bound F.
• From 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, December 9, and from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. December 10, the last stop for some Brooklyn-bound F trains will be 2 Av due to track maintenance. To continue your trip, transfer to a Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound F train at 2 Av.
• From 12:01 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. Saturday, December 9 to Monday, December 11, F trains run local in both directions between 21 St-Queensbridge and 71 Av due to signal maintenance as part of Subway Action Plan work.

J train:

• At all times until early 2018, Manhattan-bound trains skip 121 St and 104 St due to station rehabilitation work.
  • For service to these stations, use the nearby 111 St or Woodhaven Blvd stations instead. Or, take the Manhattan-bound J to 111 St or Woodhaven Blvd and transfer to a Jamaica Center-bound J.
  • For service from these stations, use the nearby 111 St or Woodhaven Blvd stations instead. Or, take the Q56 bus and transfer to/from J service at nearby 111 St.
• From 9:45 p.m. Friday, December 8 to 5:00 a.m. Monday, December 11, J trains are suspended in both directions between Broad St and Chambers Stdue to signal maintenance as part of Subway Action Plan work. Use the 45 at nearby Fulton St and Wall St stations instead.
• From 6:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, December 9 and Sunday, December 10, Jamaica Center-bound J trains skip Hewes St, Lorimer St and Flushing Av due to track maintenance as part of Subway Action Plan work.

M train:

• At all times until April 2018, M service is suspended in both directions between Myrtle Av and Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs. M service will operate in two sections:
  • Between Essex St and Myrtle Av, and via the J to/from Broadway Junction, days/evenings.
  • Between Metropolitan Av and Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs.
  • Free shuttle buses operate between Myrtle Av (Broadway) and Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs
• From 6:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, December 9 and Sunday, December 10, Broadway Junction-bound M trains skip Hewes St, Lorimer St and Flushing Av due to track maintenance as part of Subway Action Plan work.
• From 8:00 p.m. to 11:45 p.m. Friday, December 8, M service will end early between 71 Av and Essex St due to signal maintenance. Take E/F/R trains instead.

N train:

• At all times until Fall 2018, Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound N trains skip Fort Hamilton Pkwy, New Utrecht Av, 18 Av, 20 Av, Kings Hwy, Avenue U and 86 St.
  • For service to these stations, take the Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound N to Bay Pkwy or Coney Island-Stillwell Av and transfer to a Manhattan-bound N.
  • For service from these stations, take a Manhattan-bound N to Bay Pkwy or 8 Av and transfer to a Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound N.
  • For New Utrecht Av-62 St, take the D. Transfer between N and D trains at 36 St or Coney Island-Stillwell Av.
• At all times until Spring 2018, N trains skip 30 Av and 36 Av in both directions due to MTA's Enhanced Station Initiative project. For alternate service during this closure, use the nearby open Astoria line stations for N/W service at Broadway, Astoria Blvd, and 39 Av, or go to the Steinway St or 36 St M/R stations. Or, use the following convenient bus route(s):
  
  • Q102 to open Astoria line stations, Queensboro Plaza N/W/7 or Queens Plaza E/M/R.
  • Q18 to Northern Blvd M/R.
  • Q66 to Steinway St M/R, Northern Blvd M/R, 21 St-Queensbridge F, Queensboro Plaza N/W/7, and Queens Plaza E/M/R.
  • Q69 and Q100 Ltd to 21 St-Queensbridge F, Queens Plaza E/M/R, Queensboro Plaza N/W/7.
• From 11:45 p.m. Friday, December 8 to 5:00 a.m. Monday, December 11, Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound N trains skip Broadway and 39 Av due to station enhancements. Use an Astoria-bound N train to complete your trip.
• From 12:01 a.m. Saturday, December 9 to 5:00 a.m. Monday, December 11, N trains stop at 45 St and 53 St in both directions due to electrical improvements.

S train:

• From 11:15 p.m. Friday, December 8 to 5:00 a.m. Monday, December 11, A trains replace S shuttle trains between Broad Channel and Rockaway Parkway due to track replacement as part of Subway Action Plan work. A service will operate between 168 St St and Broad Channel, and via the S to/from Rockaway Park.
