NYC Weekend Subway Service Changes For Nov. 25-26

NEW YORK, NY — Here's how the Metropolitan Transportation Authority will screw up your plans this weekend — from late Friday night, Nov. 24, through early Monday morning, Nov. 27 — in the name of "upgrading and maintaining our tracks, stations and signal systems in order to continue to provide our customers with safe and reliable service.

Getting around on the subway this weekend is going to be tough, as a whopping 18(!) train lines will be running with modified service.

1 train:

• From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24 to 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, downtown trains skip 125 St, 116 St, 110 St, and 103 St due to track maintenance. Use an uptown 1 train to complete your trip. Transfer at 96 St, 137 St (with Unlimited Ride MetroCard), or 168 St.

1/2 train:

• From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24 to 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, uptown trains skip 50 St, 59 St, and 66 St due to track replacement. Use a downtown 1/2 local train to complete your trip. Transfer at 72 St or Times Sq-42 St.

2/3 trains:

• From 1:45 p.m. Friday, November 24 to 5:00 a.m. Monday, November 27, 2/3 service will be suspended in Brooklyn due to Fix&Fortify Sandy Recovery Work in the Clark St Tunnel. This project is part of MTA's ongoing efforts to fix assets damaged during Sandy, and include repairs and rehabilitation of tracks, signals, pump rooms, fire protection system, and power and communication cables.
  • In Brooklyn, 4 service will operate local to Crown Hts-Utica Av to replace the 3. Free shuttle buses will run from Crown Hts-Utica Av to New Lots Av. 5 service will be extended to Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College to replace the 2. 4 and 5 trains will run local in Brooklyn. Service will not be available at the Clark St and Hoyt St stations. As an alternative, use the nearby Borough Hall and Nevins St 4/5. Transfer at Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr for N/Q/R trains for service to Manhattan.
  • In Manhattan, downtown 2/3 trains will be rerouted. 2 trains will run between the Bronx and South Ferry, making local stops between 34 St-Penn Station and South Ferry. 3 service will run between Harlem-148 St and 14 St. Service will not be available at the Park Place and Wall St stations. Use the nearby Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall and Wall St 4/5 stations instead.
  • A free out-of-system transfer is available between the South Ferry 1/2 and Bowling Green 4/5 Transfer between South Ferry 1/2 and R at South Ferry-Whitehall St. Transfer at Times Sq-42 St for N/Q/R trains to Brooklyn.
• From 10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24 to 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, downtown trains run local from 96 St to Times Sq-42 St due to track maintenance.

4 train:

• From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24 to 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, Manhattan-bound trains run express from Utica Av to Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr due to electrical improvements. Use a New Lots Av-bound train to complete your trip. Transfer at Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr, Franklin Av, or Utica Av. 5 service stops at Eastern Pkwy, Grand Army Plaza, and Bergen St on Saturday, Nov. 25.
• From 3:45 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 25 to 10 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 26, Woodlawn-bound trains skip 161 St, 167 St, 170 St, Mt Eden Av, and 176 St due to track replacement. Use a Manhattan-bound train to complete your trip. Transfer at Burnside Av or 149 St-Grand Concourse.
• From 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 25, and from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 26, service operates every 16 minutes between 125 St and Woodlawn due to track replacement. The last stop for some Woodlawn-bound trains is 125 St. Transfer to a Woodlawn-bound 4 train at 125 St to complete your trip.

4/5 trains:

• From 11:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24 to 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, 4 service is extended to New Lots Av and 5 service is extended to Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College due to Fix&FortifySandy Recovery Work in the Clark St Tunnel. 4/5 trains replace the 2/3 in Brooklyn. A free out-of-system transfer is available between the Bowling Green 4/5 and South Ferry 1/2 stations.
• From 10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24 to 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, downtown trains run local from 125 St to Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall due to track maintenance.

4/6 trains:

• From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24 to 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, uptown trains run express between Grand Central-42 St to 125 St due to track replacement. Use a downtown 4 local or 6 train to complete your trip. Transfer at 125 St, 86 St (with Unlimited Ride MetroCard), 59 St, or Grand Central-42 St.

5 train:

• From 11:45 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25 to 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, 241 St-bound trains run express from Franklin Av to Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr due to electrical improvements. Use a Flatbush Av-bound 5 or New Lots Av-bound 4 train to complete your trip. Transfer at Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr or Franklin Av.

7 train:

• From 3:45 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 25 to 10 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 26, Flushing-bound trains run express from 74 St-Broadway to Willets Point due to track replacement. Use a Manhattan-bound train to complete your trip. Transfer at Willets Point, Junction Blvd, or 74 St-Broadway.

A train:

• From 11:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24 to 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, service is suspended in both directions between Broad Channel and Far Rockaway due to track replacement. A service operates between 207 St and Broad Channel, and via the S between Broad Channel and Rockaway Park. Free shuttle buses make all stops between Beach 90 St and Far Rockaway. Transfer between A trains and buses at Beach 90 St. Rockaway Park S is replaced by the A during this time.

A/C trains:

• From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24 to 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, uptown trains run express from 59 St-Columbus Circle to 125 St due to track replacement. Use a downtown A/C to complete your trip. Transfer at 59 St-Columbus Circle, 42 St/Port Authority, 34 St-Penn Station, 14 St, W 4 St-Wash Sq, or Canal St. C trains do not run overnight.
• From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24 to 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, downtown trains run express from 168 St to 59 St-Columbus Circle due to signal maintenance. Use an uptown A/C to complete your trip. Transfer at 59 St-Columbus Circle, 125 St, 145 St, or 168 St. C trains do not run overnight.

D train:

• From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24 to 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, Norwood-205 St bound trains skip 170 St, 174-175 Sts, and 182-183 Sts due track maintenance. Use a Brooklyn-bound train to complete your trip. Transfer at Fordham Rd, Tremont Av, or 167 St.
• From 4:45 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov 26, service is suspended in both directions between Coney Island-Stillwell Av and Bay Pkwy due to signal maintenance. Service operates between Bay Pkwy and Norwood-205 St. Free shuttle buses make all D stops between Coney Island-Stillwell Av and Bay Pkwy. Transfer between D trains and shuttle buses at Bay Pkwy.

E train:

• From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24 to 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, service is suspended in both directions between World Trade Center and W 4 St-Wash Sq due to track replacement. Service operates between Jamaica Center and W 4 St-Wash Sq, and is rerouted via the F to/from 2 Av. Take the A/C via transfer at W 4 St-Wash Sq. Uptown A/C trains run express from Canal St to 59 St-Columbus Circle.

E/F trains:

• From 12:01 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24 to 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, Queens-bound trains stop at 36 St, Steinway St, 46 St, Northern Blvd, and 65 St due to signal modernization.

E/R trains:

• From 11:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24 to 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, Manhattan-bound trains run express from Forest Hills-71 Av to Roosevelt Av due to track replacement. Use a Jamaica Center-bound E local or Forest Hills-bound R to complete your trip. Transfer at Roosevelt Av or Forest Hills-71 Av. Late-night R service does not operate in Queens.

F train:

• At all times until early 2018, Manhattan-bound F trains skip Avenue U, Avenue P, Avenue N, Bay Pkwy and Avenue I.
  • For service to these stations, take a Manhattan-boundF train to Kings Hwy or 18 Av and transfer to a Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound F.
  • For service from these stations, take a Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound F train to Kings Hwy or Avenue X and transfer to a Manhattan-bound F.
• From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24 to 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, downtown trains skip 23 St and 14 St due to electrical improvements. Use an uptown train to complete your trip. Transfer at W 4 St-Wash Sq or 34 St-Herald Sq.

G train:

• From 11:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24 to 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, service is suspended in both directions between Hoyt-Schermerhorn Sts and Church Av due to track replacement. Use A/F service as an alternative. G service operates in two sections:
  • Between Court Sq and Bedford-Nostrand Av
  • Between Bedford-Nostrand Av and Hoyt-Schermhorn Sts every 20 minutes.
  • To continue your trip, transfer at Bedford-Nostrand Av G, Hoyt-Schermerhorn Sts A/G, and Jay St-MetroTech A/F.

J train:

• At all times until early 2018, Manhattan-bound trains skip 121 St and 104 St due to station rehabilitation work.
  • For service to these stations, use the nearby 111 St or Woodhaven Blvd stations instead. Or, take the Manhattan-bound J to 111 St or Woodhaven Blvd and transfer to a Jamaica Center-bound J.
  • For service from these stations, use the nearby 111 St or Woodhaven Blvd stations instead. Or, take the Q56 bus and transfer to/from J service at nearby 111 St.

M train:

• At all times until April 2018, M service is suspended in both directions between Myrtle Av and Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs. M service will operate in two sections:
  • Between Essex St and Myrtle Av, and via the J to/from Broadway Junction, days/evenings.
  • Between Metropolitan Av and Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs.
  • Free shuttle buses operate between Myrtle Av (Broadway) and Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs

N train:

• At all times until Fall 2018, Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound N trains skip Fort Hamilton Pkwy, New Utrecht Av, 18 Av, 20 Av, Kings Hwy, Avenue U and 86 St.
  • For service to these stations, take the Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound N to Bay Pkwy or Coney Island-Stillwell Av and transfer to a Manhattan-bound N.
  • For service from these stations, take a Manhattan-bound N to Bay Pkwy or 8 Av and transfer to a Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound N.
  • For New Utrecht Av-62 St, take the D. Transfer between N and D trains at 36 St or Coney Island-Stillwell Av.
• At all times until Spring 2018, N trains skip 30 Av and 36 Av in both directions due to MTA's Enhanced Station Initiative project. For alternate service during this closure, use the nearby open Astoria line stations for N/W service at Broadway, Astoria Blvd, and 39 Av, or go to the Steinway St or 36 St M/R stations. Or, use the following convenient bus route(s):
  
  • Q102 to open Astoria line stations, Queensboro Plaza N/W/7 or Queens Plaza E/M/R.
  • Q18 to Northern Blvd M/R.
  • Q66 to Steinway St M/R, Northern Blvd M/R, 21 St-Queensbridge F, Queensboro Plaza N/W/7, and Queens Plaza E/M/R.
  • Q69 and Q100 Ltd to 21 St-Queensbridge F, Queens Plaza E/M/R, Queensboro Plaza N/W/7.

• From 11:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24 to 4:45 a.m. Sunday, Nov 26, trains are rerouted via the D in both directions between Coney Island-Stillwell Av and 36 St due to signal maintenance. For service to 86 St, Avenue U, Kings Hwy, Bay Pkwy, 20 Av and 18 Av, transfer to shuttle buses at Stillwell Av and/or 62 St-New Utrecht Av. For service at Fort Hamilton Pkwy and 8 Av, transfer to shuttle buses at 62 St-New Utrecht Av and/or 59 St (Brooklyn). For service to 59 St (Brooklyn), take the R or shuttle buses. Transfer between N/R trains at 36 St, or between buses and R trains at 59 St (Brooklyn).
• From 4:45 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Nov. 26, service is suspended in both directions between 36 St and Coney Island-Stillwell Av. Service operates between Ditmars Blvd and 36 St and is rerouted via the D to 9 Av, the last stop. For service between 36 St and 59 St (Brooklyn), take the R via transfer at 36 St. Free shuttle buses make N stops between 59 St (Brooklyn) and Coney Island-Stillwell Av. Transfer between shuttle buses and R at 59 St (Brooklyn).

S train:

• From 11:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24 to 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, A trains replace S trains between Broad Channel and Rockaway Park due to track replacement. A service operates between 207 St and Broad Channel, and via the S to/from Rockaway Park.
