NYC's 2018 Michelin Restaurants: See What Made The List
Seventy-one NYC restaurants were awarded a Michelin star for 2018, including six first-timers.

NEW YORK, NY — The Michelin Guide released its 2018 rankings for New York City Monday and, as usual, the city's restaurants scored high marks. This year's list marks the 13th year that Michelin has prepared a guide — with its trademark three-star ranking system — of New York's best restaurants.
Seventy-two New York City restaurants were awarded at least one star, Michelin announced Monday. Of those restaurants: 56 were awarded one star, 11 were awarded two stars and five were awarded the maximum three stars.
"New York has great influences from the international culinary community, and that is evident in the supreme level that chefs here are preparing not just Japanese cuisine, but Italian, French, and 55 total cuisine types represented in the current Guide," Michael Ellis, international director of the Michelin Guide, said in a statement.

New York's three star restaurants are Chef’s Table at Brooklyn Fare, Eleven Madison Park, Le Bernardin, Masa and Per Se, Michelin announced. All five restaurants were also awarded three stars last year.
But the big news Monday has been the name missing from that group. Superstar chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten's "Jean-Georges" was demoted from three stars to two stars for the first time in the Michelin Guide's 13 years ranking New York City restaurants.

One restaurant, Sushi Ginza Onodera in Midtown Manhattan, was promoted compared to last year's rankings. The restaurant now has two stars after debuting on the Michelin Guide with one star last year. Six restaurants on this year's Michelin Guide are making their first appearances with one star and eight restaurants were dropped from last year's list.
