Police ID 2 Killed In Apparent Murder-Suicide Inside NYC Apartment

A firearm was recovered at the scene. The NYPD is investigating what led up to the shooting.

NEW YORK CITY — Two people killed in an apparent murder-suicide inside a New York City apartment on Thursday have been identified, police said Friday.

Fifty five-year-old Mario Garcia and 59-year-old Maria Garcia were found dead inside a first-floor apartment at 2500 Johnson Ave. in the Bronx around 8 a.m. on Thursday.

Officers responded to the scene after receiving a 911 call of multiple people shot at the location.

An 86-year-old woman was rushed to Harlem Hospital in critical condition after being shot in the face.

It is believed that the 55-year-old man was the shooter and took his own life after killing his 59-year-old sister and shooting his mother, according to police.

The man has since been identified as a retired Port Authority Police Department officer, according to multiple media reports.
