NEW YORK CITY — A wave of protests over the police shooting of Jacob Blake flowed into ongoing demonstrations in New York City over injustice and inequality.

Social media was alight with posts Monday showing protesters march in Times Square, over the Brooklyn Bridge and elsewhere in the city.

The scenes unfolded the day after Jacob Blake, a Black man, was shot by a police officer in Kenosha, Wisconsin as he leaned into his SUV, where his three children were sitting inside.

The 29-year-old survived being shot seven times in the back and has been paralyzed, his father told reporters.

Disturbing video depicting the shooting prompted violent unrest in Kenosha and reignited protests across the country that sprang up and simmered after the killing of George Floyd.

The protests in New York City didn’t lead to mass destruction. They appeared to dovetail with other marches.

For instance, one that snaked from Times Square, across the Brooklyn Bridge and to Park Slope merged with a demonstration celebrating what would have been LGBTQ activist Marsha P. Johnson's 75th birthday.

Protesters on Tuesday planned a vigil for Blake in Union Square, among other demonstrations.
