PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — A night of protests spurred by Jacob Blake, a Black man who was shot by police in Wisconsin, ended with dozens gathered outside Park Slope's 78th Precinct on Monday, according to video and reports.

Hundreds of protesters who started the night in Times Square made their way through Manhattan, across the Brooklyn Bridge and eventually to the Brooklyn neighborhood during a five-hour march across the boroughs, according to video. The protesters who remained were met with a line of cops in riot gear at the Sixth Avenue precinct, video shows.

The protest — one of several Black Lives Matter-related demonstrations in New York City Monday — came the day after Jacob Blake was shot by officers as he leaned into his SUV, where his three children were sitting inside.

The 29-year-old is still hospitalized and has been paralyzed by the shooting, according to his father.

The Wisconsin shooting has reignited ongoing protests that began in late May following the death of George Floyd.

The protest briefly converged with another demonstration celebrating what would have been LGBTQ activist Marsha P. Johnson's 75th birthday, according to reports. Johnson, a Black transgender woman, helped establish a shelter for LGBTQ youth in New York and was a founding member of the Gay Liberation Front.

Protests were also held in New York City on Monday for the one-year anniversary of the death of Elijah McClain, a 23-year-old Black man who died after a police encounter in Colorado.

More demonstrations are set for Tuesday, including a vigil for Blake in Union Square.

The New York City protests join others across the country, including in Kenosha, Wisconsin, where Blake was shot.

A state of emergency curfew has been declared in the city.
