ICYMI: Cypress Hills Police Shooting: Officer Hit In Arm, Officials Say

The officer was shot on Chestnut Street near Ridgewood Avenue just before 5 p.m. Thursday, according to reports.

CYPRESS HILLS, BROOKLYN — An NYPD police officer who responded a report of an emotionally disturbed person was shot in the arm Thursday afternoon, according to officials.

The officer was shot in the arm at 149 Chestnut St. around 4:55 p.m., according the FDNY and NYPD.

A source told Patch that the police officer had been responding to a report of an emotionally disturbed person and NBC reported he was involved in a "standoff" with the suspect.

The officer was rushed in unknown condition to Jamaica hospital, where he was visited by Mayor Bill de Blasio, according to the NYPD and the Mayor's Office.

Witnesses posted videos of NYPD officers swarming the nearby streets shortly after the shooting.
