Stranger Tries To Rape Woman In Hell's Kitchen, Police Say
The man snuck up behind his victim on West 51st St,, put his hand over her mouth and tried to rape her, police said.
HELL’S KITCHEN, NEW YORK — Police are looking for an attempted rapist who grabbed a woman from behind on West 51st Street and tried to rip off her pants.
The 27-year-old victim was standing near the intersection of West 51st Street and Ninth Avenue around 4:20 a.m. on Sept. 1 when her attacker snuck up behind her and covered her mouth with his hand, police said.
Surveillance cameras captured video of the man trying to pull the woman away from a stairwell while she clings to the railing.

The woman managed to call out for help and her attacker sprinted away, heading west on West 51st Street, police said.
He's described as in his 40s and last seen wearing a hoodie with the number 94 on the front, dark pants and black sneakers.
