Stop & Shop Celebrates Remodeled Broadway Store Reopening in The Bronx

Stop & Shop, a neighborhood grocer for more than 100 years, unveiled its newly remodeled store in The Bronx, New York, located at 5716 Broadway on Friday, January 20. The updates are part of Stop & Shop’s larger $140 million capital investment in its New York City stores, which was announced in 2022. Stop & Shop also presented PS 5 Ellen Lurie School with $10,000 in gift cards to continue its support of the in-school pantry through the Stop & Shop School Food Pantry Program.

The new store elements are centered around delivering fresh, healthy, and convenient options that make grocery shopping easier for Bronx customers. Key highlights include noticeably brighter and more modern décor and easier to navigate signage with iconography to help non-native English speakers better understand what’s in each aisle. A broadened multicultural assortment can now be enjoyed by shoppers, with more than 700 new items added to categories across the store.

As part of Stop & Shop’s ongoing commitment to the Bronx community, Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson and Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz aided Stop & Shop in a check presentation to Stop & Shop’s School Food Pantry partner, PS5. For the second year, Stop & Shop has provided $10,000 to support PS5’s in-school pantry, which supports 425 students from Pre-K to 5th Grade. 90% of the students at PS5 receive free breakfast and lunch, and the Stop & Shop School Food Pantry aims to bridge the hunger gap that many students face at night and on weekends.

"The PS5 community would like to thank Stop & Shop for its generous donation to and continued support of our school-based pantry, Tiger's Table,” said Amanda Barnes, Paraprofessional at PS 5. “With the help of Stop & Shop and other local partners, PS5 will continue our efforts to combat food insecurities."

As the winter season continues, Stop & Shop remains committed to offering Bronx customers easy and convenient meal options. The Broadway store continues to offer Same Day Pickup, providing local customers with a faster and more convenient way to shop, with pickup available in as little as two hours. Customers can place an order on the Stop & Shop® mobile app, or visit www.stopandshop.com, click on “Order Online” and select “Pickup” at the Broadway store. Customers can then head to the store, park in one of the designated Pickup spots, and have a Stop & Shop associate load their groceries right into their car.
