Stop & Shop Celebrates Remodeled Crotona Store
East 174th Street Location Marks Supermarket's 3rd Bronx Remodel as Part of the Company's $140 Million Capital Investment in its NYC Stores

Stop & Shop today cut the ribbon at its newly remodeled Crotona store located at 961 East 174th Street. Crotona is the third Bronx store to be upgraded as part of the supermarket chain’s $140 million capital investment across its New York City fleet. The store joins Stop & Shop’s Bartow Avenue and Broadway locations in offering customers a refreshed look, upgraded format and new amenities that seek to enhance the customer shopping experience and better meet the needs of the diverse neighbors its serves, which now includes complimentary health and wellness consultations from the supermarket’s first bilingual registered dietitian.
At the heart of Stop & Shop’s enhancements to its NYC stores is an expanded product assortment that caters to the diverse neighborhood each store serves. Crotona customers now have access to more than 1,600 new ethnic products that cater to Caribbean, Puerto Rican, Dominican, West African, and West Indian palates. These new offerings span the frozen foods, dairy and produce departments, along with a largely expanded grocery assortment via the store’s new ‘Global Market’ that boasts items such as Kikuet Empanadillas, Cibao Meats, Golden Krust baked goods, and Goya products.
The store also has a renewed focus on value, offering more sale bins and special deals on culturally relevant products highlighted in a New York City-specific weekly circular ad. Crotona also offers the Flashfood mobile app, giving customers access to produce, meat, dairy, and other grocery items nearing their best-buy date at discounts up to 50% off.
