MANHATTAN, NEW YORK —

A Brooklyn-based non-profit, Redhawk Native American Arts Council, held a free lunchtime Native American style jewelry-making and drawing activity in Brookfield Place in lower Manhattan on Friday, September 6. For the past 25 years, the council's mission has been to educate the general public about indigenous peoples' heritage and history through cultural and educational events featuring music, dance, art and theater. One of the council's main goals is to break stereotypes about native groups from North, South, Central American, Caribbean and Polynesian cultures.
