Hochul Calls $87M Funding Gap 'Defunding The Police' (patch.com) — New Yorkers are being warned that an $87 million gap in federal homeland-security funding could weaken bomb squads, FDNY special operations, cyber defense and other counterterrorism resources in New York City and statewide. Gov. Kathy Hochul accuses Donald Trump's administration of effectively defunding local law enforcement, while federal officials counter that New York is sitting on hundreds of millions in unspent security grants.

MTA sells retired MetroCard machines for up to $3,000 to collectors (time.news) — New York City transit fans just snapped up more than 60 retired MetroCard vending machines at auction, paying up to $3,000 for these hefty pieces of subway history.
